On the evening of February 24, 2020, a violent encounter in Windsor, Colorado, tragically ended the life of 37-year-old Brie Ann Biondolillo of Greeley. A vibrant and beloved mother, her life was cut short when she went to the home of her ex-boyfriend, 38-year-old Kaman Morgan, to pick up their infant son. The exchange, which took place on Sundance Drive, escalated into a fatal shooting that left a family shattered and a community in shock.
While Biondolillo sat in her vehicle with their
3-month-old son also inside, Morgan approached and fired a gun multiple times. Five bullets pierced the windshield, striking Biondolillo. After she fell from the car, Morgan shot her a final, fatal time in the head. Miraculously, the infant in the vehicle was physically unharmed. The shooting occurred shortly before 8 p.m., and despite the horrific violence of the act, Morgan did not immediately flee.
The following morning, Kaman Morgan turned himself into the Windsor Police Department. He was subsequently charged with first-degree murder. In April 2018, Morgan had been subject to a protection order that required him to relinquish any firearms. The legal proceedings that followed painted a grim picture of domestic violence culminating in a devastating loss.
After a week-long trial, a Weld County jury found Kaman Morgan guilty of first-degree murder on August 2, 2022. A judge then handed down a mandatory sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. During the sentencing, Biondolillo's daughter delivered an emotional statement, expressing her relief that Morgan could no longer harm her mother or any other woman. The conclusion of the legal process brought a measure of justice for a family irrevocably broken by a senseless act of violence.
