A survivor of the Cambodian genocide, Kim Phok, a 61-year-old female, built a new life in Denver, Colorado, only to have it tragically cut short. She passed away on April 24, 2020, from injuries sustained in a shooting that occurred four days prior. Phok had escaped the brutal Khmer Rouge regime, arriving in the United States as a refugee in 1981 with her husband and infant son.
