La'Zic, affectionately called 'Zay,' was a student who had attended DSISD and William H. Taft High School. He was a problem-solver, resourceful and result-oriented, who could figure out how to fix anything. He enjoyed playing video and board games, listening to rap music, and was an avid reader of the Harry Potter series. He was also active, participating in cross country, track, basketball, and soccer. His family remembers his favorite color was red and that he loved roses. His friends recall him as being very protective, caring, and funny.

In the wake of his death, his family expressed their desire for him to be remembered as the loving and kind person he was, not just another statistic of gun violence.
