In the bright morning light of August 4, 2021, the life of 18-year-old Julian Richard Evangelista-Short, a White male, was tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire. The fatal encounter occurred just before 10 a.m. at the corner of West 9th Avenue and North Yates Street in Denver. Responding to the sound of shots, neighbors rushed to aid the young man, finding him gasping for air and performing CPR in a desperate attempt to save him.
