On September 13, 2015, a deadly confrontation occurred at a gas station along Route 314 in Los Chavez, New Mexico, involving members of rival motorcycle clubs. Sean Duffey, 38, of Albuquerque, a member of the Bandidos motorcycle club, and Danny Macias, 40, of Belen, affiliated with the Poor Boys motorcycle club, were both fatally shot during the incident. Autopsies confirmed that both men died from gunshot wounds.
Additionally, three other individuals sustained gunshot injuries and were treated at a local hospital.
The altercation is believed to have stemmed from a turf dispute between the two motorcycle clubs. Authorities noted that similar confrontations had occurred earlier that year. In March 2015, the Bandidos were reportedly involved in a shooting at an Albuquerque Applebee's restaurant, which also resulted from a clash with a rival group. Witnesses were reluctant to provide information in that case, complicating the investigation. Furthermore, in May 2015, the Bandidos were involved in a violent encounter with other gangs in Waco, Texas, leading to nine deaths and over 150 arrests.
Following the Los Chavez shooting, the New Mexico State Police launched an investigation into the incident.
