On February 27, 2019, 25-year-old Amanda Gonzales Madrid was fatally shot outside a Family Dollar store near Wyoming and Central in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The incident occurred following a verbal altercation between Amanda and another woman, Maiah Madrid-Schleicher, as they were getting into their respective vehicles. The confrontation escalated, leading Madrid-Schleicher to discharge a firearm from her vehicle, striking Amanda, who succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
