On the evening of Tuesday, May 21, 2019, the life of a beloved White female, Natalie Parker Plant, 76, was brought to a tragic and violent end in her Hobbs, New Mexico home. Her death was the result of a domestic violence incident that also claimed the life of her husband, who authorities identified as the suspect in a murder-suicide.
Deputies from the Lea County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the couple's residence in the 4600 block of Kansas shortly before 10 p.m.
following a report of a possible homicide. Upon their arrival, they discovered both Natalie and her 55-year-old husband, John Plant, deceased at the scene. Investigators quickly determined that the deaths were the result of a murder-suicide, with John Plant believed to have killed his wife before taking his own life.
Natalie was a well-known and respected member of the Hobbs community. For 14 years, she had worked as the Computer Lab Manager at College Lane Elementary School, where she was a cherished colleague and a positive influence on her students. Prior to her time with the school district, she had served her community for over two decades as an emergency medical dispatcher with the Hobbs Police Department. Known for her kindness, generosity, and love for her family, her sudden and violent death sent shockwaves through the community, leaving behind a legacy of dedicated service and warm memories for those who knew her. Because the sole suspect in her death was also deceased, no arrests were made in the case.
