On December 5, 2022, a tragic incident occurred at the Desert Lodge Motel in Las Cruces, New Mexico, resulting in the death of 51-year-old George Washington Abbott. The shooting took place around 4 p.m. at the motel located on Picacho Avenue. Las Cruces police were promptly dispatched to the scene in response to a report of a gunshot victim.
