In the early morning hours of December 30, 2022, the life of 32-year-old Adam Trujillo was tragically cut short in Roswell, New Mexico. The Hispanic male was shot and killed outside a room at the Aleman Motel on South Main Street, a place he had reportedly been staying. The Roswell Police Department was dispatched to the scene around 3 a.m. following reports of gunfire.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Trujillo with a fatal gunshot wound.
The investigation into the death of Adam Trujillo quickly zeroed in on a suspect. Daniel Flores-Loya, a 20-year-old from Roswell, was identified by investigators as the individual responsible for the shooting. In the course of their inquiries, detectives located Flores-Loya and brought him in for questioning. During the interview, he reportedly admitted to his involvement in the tragic incident, telling investigators that he had shot Trujillo. Following his confession, Daniel Flores-Loya was arrested and taken into custody.
Following his arrest, Daniel Flores-Loya was formally charged with an open count of murder in connection with the death of Adam Trujillo. He was subsequently booked into the Chaves County Detention Center as he awaited legal proceedings. The case was bound over to District Court for trial, where Flores-Loya would face the consequences of the events that transpired on that December morning. In June 2024, Daniel Flores-Loya pleaded no contest to second-degree murder. This plea meant he accepted the conviction without formally admitting guilt to the charge. His sentencing was scheduled to take place at a later date.
