On February 19, 1993, Police Officer Thomas F. Rose, a 42-year-old officer from the Boston Police Department, was tragically killed in the line of duty. The incident occurred at the Boston Government Center, where Officer Rose was overseeing the detention area. During this time, he allowed an inmate to exit his cell to make a phone call, a routine procedure that turned deadly.
