On a Sunday afternoon in March of 2015, the life of Rakeem Nixon, a 22-year-old Black man, was cut short by gun violence in Springfield, Massachusetts. The shooting, which occurred on March 15, 2015, led to an investigation that would see a teenage suspect arrested and charged with his murder, only for the case to later fall apart.
