On a late Saturday night in June of 2016, the life of 31-year-old Hispanic female Carmen Rosario was tragically cut short in Holyoke, Massachusetts. Around 11:30 p.m. on June 25th, police responded to a report of a gunshot victim in front of an apartment building at 4 Barrett Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered Rosario and immediately began administering life-saving measures before she was transported to Baystate Medical Center.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Carmen Rosario's condition worsened, and she was pronounced deceased on the evening of Sunday, June 26, 2016. Her death was quickly ruled a homicide, prompting a joint investigation by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit assigned to the Hampden District Attorney's Office and the Holyoke Police Department. Authorities assured the public that the shooting was not a random act of violence but stemmed from a prior dispute.
The investigation led to the swift apprehension of two suspects. Isreal Rosado, 21, and Jonathan Carrion, 19, both of Holyoke, were arrested in connection with Rosario's murder. The two men were subsequently arraigned in Holyoke District Court on murder charges and were held without bail.
