An 18-year-old male, Fausto Sosa, who was a student at the Boston Community Leadership Academy, was fatally shot in the evening on August 22, 2018. Originally from Santiago in the Dominican Republic, Sosa was described as a kind-hearted brother and a great teammate. He resided in Roslindale but was found by police suffering from a gunshot wound on Hollander Street in the Roxbury neighborhood of Boston.
The shooting occurred at approximately 7:12 p.m. near 39 Hollander St.
After being discovered by police, Sosa was transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. At the time of the incident, his death was reported as the 36th homicide in Boston that year.
Boston police officials opened an investigation into the shooting and urged anyone with information to contact the Homicide Unit. In the days following the shooting, no information was publicly released by authorities regarding any potential suspects or arrests in the case. The circumstances that led to the fatal shooting remained under investigation.
