In the early morning hours of July 26, 2020, a violent incident cut short the life of Sarbryon Loving, a 39-year-old Black / African American male from Boston. Just before 2 a.m., officers from the Mattapan district responded to a report of a person shot in the area of 38 Erie Street in Dorchester. Upon their arrival, they discovered Loving suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
He was quickly transported to a local hospital, but his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced deceased.
The death of Sarbryon Loving prompted an extensive investigation by the Boston Police Department's Homicide Detectives. For nearly a year, investigators worked to piece together the events of that tragic night, seeking to bring those responsible to justice. The case was one of two deadly shootings that occurred within minutes of each other in the city, marking a particularly violent night for Boston.
After months of diligent police work, a significant breakthrough occurred in May 2021. The investigation led to the identification of two suspects. Boston Police arrested 28-year-old Henry Campbell of Dorchester and 23-year-old Tarik Wright of Roxbury in connection with the fatal shooting. Campbell was taken into custody on a Sunday afternoon, while Wright was arrested the following day by the Boston Police Department's fugitive and SWAT units, with assistance from ATF agents. Both men were subsequently charged with murder and unlawful firearm possession.
