In a quiet neighborhood in Lynn, Massachusetts, a shocking act of violence shattered the afternoon of August 23, 2022, resulting in the death of 34-year-old Sanjar Halin. The tragic event was part of a horrific triple murder-suicide that also claimed the lives of two other family members before the perpetrator took her own life.
On that Tuesday, investigators determined that Kahosay Sharifi, 31, fatally shot her brother-in-law, Sanjar Halin, and her father, 66-year-old Mohamed Sharifi,
at a residence on Rockaway Street. Following these initial acts, she proceeded to a second location on Laighton Street where she shot and killed her brother-in-law's father, Abdul Halin, who was 56, as he sat in his car.
The series of brutal events concluded when Kahosay Sharifi drove to a Stop & Shop on Washington Street and died by suicide. In the wake of the violence, a chilling Facebook post authored by Sharifi surfaced, offering a potential motive for the devastating rampage. In her social media message, she leveled accusations of long-term abuse against her brother-in-law, Sanjar Halin, directed at her sister.
The family released a statement attributing the tragedy to issues of mental health and abuse. The incident left the community in shock and two young children fatherless.
