In the early hours of a Sunday morning over Labor Day weekend in 2022, the sounds of a house party in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood were shattered by gunfire. On September 4th, at approximately 3 a.m., a triple shooting occurred in the area of 26 Melbourne Street, leaving two men dead and another wounded. One of the men who lost his life was Tefan Ivy, a 29-year-old Black / African American male from Brockton and a veteran of the U.S.
Marine Corps.
Emergency services responded to reports of the shooting and discovered three victims. One man was pronounced dead at the scene. Two others, including Ivy, were rushed to a local hospital for treatment. Tragically, Ivy succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The third victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was expected to survive. The other man killed in the incident was identified as 23-year-old Jermaine Daye of Randolph.
Witnesses described a chaotic scene, with one neighbor recalling the sound of "rapid fire." The shooting reportedly took place just outside the home where the party was being held. The incident sent shockwaves through the community, with friends and family of the victims taking to social media to express their grief and call for an end to gun violence. Family members remembered Tefan Ivy as a loving father to his young daughter.
In the days following the shooting, the Boston Police Department confirmed the identities of Tefan Ivy and Jermaine Daye. The investigation into the double homicide was launched, with homicide detectives and the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office looking into the circumstances that led to the shooting. However, as of late 2022, no arrests have been made in connection with the deaths of Tefan Ivy and Jermaine Daye, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The case is listed on the Boston Police Department's roster of unsolved homicides for 2022. Authorities have continued to ask for the public's help, urging anyone with information to come forward.
