In the early morning hours of June 7, 1998, a seemingly routine single-vehicle accident in a Portland, Oregon, tunnel would unfold into a much darker scene. First responders arriving at the on-ramp to I-405 from Northwest 16th Avenue and Everett Street at approximately 2:20 a.m. discovered the driver, 33-year-old Jeffrey Steven Lange, a White male, was not the victim of a mere car crash.
