In the early morning hours of June 17, 1998, the life of 19-year-old Jason Charles Webber was cut short in a violent encounter at a Portland, Oregon motel. Webber, an African-American male from Tacoma, Washington, was with associates in a room at the Rodeway Inn on Northeast Sandy Boulevard when a loud knocking began at their door around 4:20 a.m. The situation quickly escalated when an unknown individual shattered the window next to the door.
