In the early morning hours of March 26, 2005, a quiet street in Portland, Oregon, became the scene of a lingering mystery. Officers were dispatched to a residence at 6624 N. Maryland Avenue at 7:30 a.m. following a report of a deceased elderly man. Inside, they discovered 87-year-old Eugene Fred Woolf, a white male, lying lifeless on his living room couch. It was immediately apparent that his death was not from natural causes; he had sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
