On a late summer day in Jefferson, Oregon, the tranquility of the community was shattered by an act of violence that claimed the life of 70-year-old Karen Enck, a White female. On August 29, 2019, Enck and another individual, Richard A. Germeau, were found deceased, both victims of a shooting. The discovery of their bodies initiated a comprehensive investigation by the Marion County Sheriff's Office, as detectives worked to piece together the events that led to the double homicide.
