On the evening of October 1, 2020, a tragic series of events unfolded in the Parkrose neighborhood of Portland, Oregon, culminating in the death of 52-year-old Jimmy Lee Melton, a Black/African American male. The night was already tense, as earlier that same day, a fatal shooting had occurred at the Capt'n Jacks Trailer Park. A vigil was being held for the victim of that morning's violence, Michael Epps Jr.
