Bobby D. Howard, 24, male, served with the Williamson Police Department in Mingo County, West Virginia. On Sunday, December 30, 1979, he was fatally wounded inside the police station when a fellow officer’s weapon discharged, an incident officially recorded as gunfire by inadvertent discharge during the line of duty. His end of watch is documented for that date, and memorial records note that he had served roughly one year with the department at the time of his death.
