On June 23, 2017, the life of Frank Madison Newbraugh, a 39-year-old Caucasian male from Grafton, West Virginia, was tragically cut short. His body was discovered near the Taylor County Animal Shelter on Riverside Road, several hours after he had been fatally shot. An investigation into his death was launched, unraveling a series of events that culminated in a senseless act of violence.
The investigation led authorities to a Marion County couple, Justin Edward Clark, 28, and his partner,
Samantha Adrea Dakon-Clark, 30. It was revealed that Dakon-Clark had arranged to meet with Newbraugh under the pretense of a narcotics transaction. Newbraugh was a passenger in the front seat of their vehicle when the fatal incident occurred. Shockingly, four children were also present in the car at the time of the shooting.
The subsequent legal proceedings brought the perpetrators to justice. Justin Edward Clark pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for the shooting death of Frank Newbraugh. His partner, Samantha Adrea Dakon-Clark, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and one count of child neglect.
