On the evening of August 3, 2020, in Ankeny, Iowa, the life of 17-year-old Mia Holmes was tragically cut short. A Black/African American female, Holmes was in a guest room at the Woodspring Suites Extended Stay Hotel when police were called to the scene for an unknown problem at approximately 11:01 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Holmes with a gunshot wound to her chest.
