In the quiet community of Ankeny, Iowa, a welfare check on June 4, 2018, led to a grim discovery at the Autumn Ridge mobile home park. Inside one of the homes, police found the bodies of 44-year-old Caucasian female Karen Jayne Edsinga and 45-year-old Lonnie Robert Perry. It was apparent to the responding officers that both individuals had been deceased for a considerable amount of time, as the bodies were in a state of advanced decomposition.
