In the early hours of November 1, 2020, the life of Marcellas McNeil, a 45-year-old Black / African American man, was tragically cut short in Des Moines, Iowa. The incident unfolded in a business district near the city's downtown area, transforming a place of commerce into a scene of violence. Responding to a call shortly before 1:30 a.m., police discovered McNeil with a gunshot wound in the 2600 block of Ingersoll Avenue. He was rushed to a local hospital, but his injuries proved fatal.
