In the summer of 2022, the life of a bright and energetic three-year-old Black male named Damari Sanders was tragically cut short in Coralville, Iowa. On the afternoon of Sunday, July 3, 2022, emergency services were dispatched to an apartment in the 900 block of Boston Way following a report of a child with gunshot injuries. Upon arrival, they found young Damari in critical condition. He was swiftly transported by ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
