In the evening hours of April 27, 2006, a dispute between coworkers over a truck escalated into a fatal encounter in West Valley City, Utah. Hugo Rosas-Pardo, a 25-year-old Hispanic male, was at his home in the 3000 South block of 5990 West when Victor Herrera Briones, 23, arrived in a pickup truck. Rosas-Pardo's 16-year-old nephew, present at the scene, had warned him not to go outside because Briones had allegedly threatened to shoot him earlier.
