Avielle Rose Richman, a 6-year-old White female, was not supposed to be at school on the morning of December 14, 2012. Her parents had planned a special trip to New York City to see the Rockettes. However, Avielle, a first-grader with a bright smile and a love for life, wanted to go to Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, because her class was making gingerbread houses.
