On January 5, 2016, 18-year-old Nasashalie Hoy was found deceased in the basement of a Hartford, Connecticut, residence. Emergency responders arrived at 11:15 p.m. to find Hoy suffering from a gunshot wound to her neck. She was transported to Hartford Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 11:58 p.m.
