In the early morning hours of July 24, 2021, a quiet street in Milford, Connecticut, became the scene of a sudden and tragic event. The life of Chaz Wright, a White/Caucasian male, was cut short in a violent encounter. At approximately 5:55 a.m., a man named Durim Berisha entered a residence on Housatonic Avenue where he confronted Wright and another occupant. During this confrontation, Berisha fatally shot Chaz Wright. The calm of the morning was shattered by this act of violence, leaving a family and community in shock.

Following the shooting, the suspect, Berisha, fled the home. He ran to a nearby vehicle and drove away from the city, initiating a police search. Law enforcement located him a short time later in the nearby city of Stamford. As Stamford police approached Berisha at Cummings Beach, before they could take him into custody, he inflicted a gunshot wound upon himself. He was transported to Stamford Hospital in what was described as grave condition. The pursuit had come to a grim and abrupt end, leaving investigators to piece together the events that led to the two tragic deaths.

Durim Berisha succumbed to his self-inflicted injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital on July 25, 2021, the day after he had taken Chaz Wright's life. Authorities investigating the case determined it to be a murder-suicide and assured the public that it was an isolated incident, posing no ongoing threat to the community. In the wake of the tragedy, friends and family mourned the loss of Wright, who was remembered as a loving father to a three-year-old son. A fundraiser was established to provide support for his grieving family as they faced the future without him.
