In the quiet, rural setting of Galena, Kansas, the life of Danny Wayne Pennock, a 77-year-old White male, came to a tragic and unexpected end on Sunday, March 29, 2020. What began as a verbal altercation within the walls of his home escalated into a fatal confrontation that would leave two family members dead in an apparent murder-suicide.
On that Sunday afternoon, at approximately 3:30 p.m., a heated argument broke out between Danny Wayne Pennock and his son, 50-year-old Danny Allen
Pennock. The nature of their dispute remains undisclosed, but it culminated in the younger Pennock retrieving a firearm. In a moment of irreversible violence, Danny Allen Pennock shot and killed his father before turning the weapon on himself.

He was a proud member of the Teamsters freight division union. In his younger years, he found joy in pheasant hunting and fishing. Later in life, he took pleasure in watching old westerns, tending to his cattle, and spending time on his farm. He was remembered as a man who loved his family deeply and provided for them selflessly. His sudden and violent death at the hands of his own son sent a shockwave through the community, leaving friends and family to mourn a profound and senseless loss.
