On August 28, 2016, Demarco Tarell Richards, aged 30, was shot and killed in the West Garfield Park neighborhood of Chicago. The incident occurred during a particularly violent weekend when a number of shootings were recorded across the city, further contributing to Chicago's status as one of the most violent urban areas in the United States in 2016. Demarco was among three individuals shot that day; sadly, he succumbed to his injuries while the others survived.
