Ari Armour, a 35-year-old African American male, was tragically killed in a drive-by shooting on June 3, 2018, in Chicago, Illinois. Armour, who was a security guard and assistant football coach at Hubbard High School, was attending a birthday party in the South Side Englewood neighborhood when the incident occurred. Around 2:30 a.m., he and three others were standing outside near 73rd Place and Racine when two individuals in an SUV drove by and opened fire.
Armour was struck in the back of the head and back, leading to his immediate death at the scene.
The drive-by shooting also resulted in injuries to three other individuals: a 25-year-old woman who was shot in the leg and upper body, a 32-year-old man who was shot in the torso, and a 19-year-old man who was shot in the leg. The woman and the 32-year-old man were in serious condition at the University of Chicago trauma center, while the 19-year-old man's condition was stabilized at Advocate Christ Medical Center.
Ari Armour was well-regarded in his community, known for his dedication to his job and his students. He was also an author of a children's book and had recently become a father in April 2018. His death marked the 202nd homicide in Chicago for that year.
As of the latest reports, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. The investigation is ongoing, with Area South detectives handling the case.
