Herschel Velbert Hice, a 75-year-old male, passed away in Van Buren, Arkansas, on Thursday, March 13, 2014. Born in Paris, Arkansas, on September 13, 1938, he was a son to the late Albert and Rosebelle Hice. Throughout his life, he was known for his work as an upholsterer for Eads Brothers. He was a man who cherished his family, leaving behind a legacy of love and memories for those who knew him.
He was a beloved husband to Lillie Hice and a devoted father to his daughter, Velvet Hice of
Fort Smith, and his two sons, Eddie Hice and Terry Lee Hice, both of Van Buren. His family circle extended to his four sisters, Alta Pearce-Mars, Lorene Pilkington, Wanda Owens, and Wilma Forest, and two brothers, Linne Hice and Stanley Hice. He was also a grandfather to Joshua Hice and Tara Hice and a great-grandfather to Coda Hice. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Daily and Amos Hice.
A graveside service to honor his life was held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at Gracelawn Cemetery in Van Buren. The arrangements were handled by Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren. His passing was a time of sorrow for his family and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
