In the quiet city of Hot Springs, Arkansas, a compassionate animal lover's life was tragically cut short, leaving a community in sorrow. Felicia A. Mikel, a 28-year-old Caucasian female, was known for her immense love for animals, a passion that led her to own and operate a doggie boarding and daycare center called Camp Wag A Tail. Her kindness extended to all creatures, as she was known to go out of her way to ensure their safety.
On the night of October 26, 2015, the peacefulness of
the 200 block of Oak Street was shattered by the sound of a single gunshot. Hot Springs police officers responded to a call and discovered Felicia unresponsive. She had sustained a single gunshot wound to her upper torso and was pronounced dead at the scene. The initial circumstances surrounding her death were unclear, prompting a thorough investigation by the Hot Springs Police Department.
Detectives soon identified 28-year-old Kendrion Gulley as a suspect in the homicide. The investigation revealed that the shooting was believed to be the result of a dispute over personal property between Gulley and Felicia. A warrant for first-degree murder was issued for Gulley's arrest.
A collaborative effort between the Hot Springs Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division, SWAT team, patrol officers, and detectives led them to a residence on Vista Street where Gulley was believed to be hiding. After a brief standoff, Gulley surrendered to the authorities without incident and was taken into custody. He was subsequently booked into the Garland County Detention Center and held on a first-degree murder charge with no bond.
