DeVante Saquan Tart, a 24-year-old African American male, was found dead on November 5, 2016, behind a vacant apartment complex in Spring Lake, North Carolina. The investigation revealed that Tart had been shot at a different location, and his body was subsequently moved to the apartment complex. The Spring Lake Police Department quickly identified the incident as a murder and began their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Tart's death.
