On a fall day in 2016, the life of 50-year-old Victoria Lynn Smith came to a tragic end in a residence on County Road 920 in Alpena, Arkansas. On October 1st, deputies from the Carroll County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the home following a report of a possible hostage situation. After receiving no response from inside, they made entry into the dwelling.
