In the winter of 2016, a fatal shooting shattered the peace of a Blytheville, Arkansas neighborhood. On the evening of December 19th, police responded to reports of gunfire on Harmon Street. There they discovered 52-year-old Dennis Moore, a male resident of the community, suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency services transported him to Great River Medical Center for treatment, but his injuries proved too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into Moore's death
quickly gained momentum. The day after the shooting, a 19-year-old woman named Carniya Storey surrendered to the Blytheville Police Department. She provided investigators with information regarding the events that led to Moore's death. This information implicated a second individual, 25-year-old Trais Mykices Young. Two days after Storey's surrender, on December 22nd, Young also turned himself in to the authorities. At the time of his arrest, Young was already wanted in connection with a separate robbery that had occurred earlier that month.
Both Storey and Young were subsequently charged with capital murder and aggravated robbery in connection with the death of Dennis Moore. The legal proceedings that followed culminated in a significant development in October of 2018. Trais Mykices Young entered a guilty plea to a charge of first-degree murder. As a result of his plea, he was sentenced to serve 30 years in prison for his role in the killing of Dennis Moore.
