In May of 2017, a grim discovery was made in Little Rock, Arkansas, that brought a tragic and violent series of events to a close. The body of 35-year-old Hispanic male, Armando S. Castillo, was found on the front porch of a home in a mobile home park on Chicot Road. He was seated in a lawn chair with a gunshot wound to his chest, and a chrome handgun was found under his legs.
A neighbor who was watching the house for the out-of-town owner was the first to find him.
The investigation into Castillo's death quickly revealed a much larger and more horrific story. Authorities determined that Castillo's death was a suicide and, through preliminary ballistic results from the handgun found with him, linked him to a triple homicide. The victims of this preceding tragedy were 32-year-old Amanda Murillo, her 15-year-old daughter, and another unidentified juvenile. The mother and daughter were discovered in a blood-covered blue Ford Explorer parked between two abandoned trailer homes, both having suffered from gunshot wounds. The third victim, a male, was found unresponsive in the driveway of a residence in Mabelvale, in nearby Saline County, after deputies responded to a report of a shooting.
The Little Rock Police Department, working in conjunction with the Saline County Sheriff's Office, publicly identified Armando S. Castillo as the person responsible for the three murders. The apparent murder-suicide shocked the community as details emerged connecting the four deaths. While the motive for the horrific acts was not immediately released, the investigation concluded that Castillo was the sole suspect in the brutal slayings of the mother, her teenage daughter, and the other young person before he took his own life.
