In the small community of Heth, Arkansas, a dispute over a mobile home escalated into a fatal encounter on September 2, 2018, ending the life of 52-year-old Donald Dishon. The conflict began as a legal battle between Dishon and Travis Pulliam, age 45, concerning a mobile home that Dishon had previously purchased from Pulliam but had recently been repossessed by Pulliam through court action.
On that Sunday afternoon, events turned violent.
Dishon had reportedly confronted individuals hired by Pulliam to clean out the trailer, brandishing a gun and forcing them to leave. After his employees called him, Pulliam went to the scene, having also contacted the Sheriff's Department. According to witness accounts, a gunfight erupted between the two men.
During the exchange of fire, Dishon was struck in the back by a bullet as he tried to run away, causing him to fall to the ground. Pulliam then allegedly approached the wounded Dishon and fired additional shots. He then returned to his truck to reload his handgun. When deputies from the St. Francis County Sheriff's Department arrived at the scene around 4:45 p.m., they discovered Dishon on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds.
Medical personnel airlifted Dishon from the scene, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. Pulliam, who was still at the location, was taken into custody without any further incident. Authorities found a second handgun in his possession. He was initially booked into the St. Francis County Jail on a charge of First Degree Battery, with the expectation that the charges would be upgraded following Dishon's death.
