On February 28, 2019, 44-year-old David Allen Marshall was found deceased from a gunshot wound in his residence on French Street in Jonesboro, Arkansas. His death was initially investigated as a homicide.
During the investigation, authorities identified Rodney Fisher as a suspect in Marshall's death. Fisher was known to have threatened police officers in previous encounters, stating he would not return to jail.
On March 7, 2019, Jonesboro police officers encountered Fisher in the Race and Curtview area while investigating suspected drug activity. When officers approached, Fisher pulled a handgun on them, prompting the officers to fire in self-defense. Fisher was shot and later died at the hospital.
Following the incident, the Arkansas State Police conducted an investigation into the officer-involved shooting. The investigation concluded that the officers acted in self-defense, and no charges were filed against them.
The investigation into Marshall's death was closed after Fisher's death, as he was considered the primary suspect. No additional arrests or suspects were reported in connection with the case.
