On a Sunday afternoon in Little Rock, Arkansas, the life of 28-year-old Jarvis Washington was tragically cut short. On April 19, 2020, Washington arrived at Baptist Hospital suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Before succumbing to his injuries, he was able to provide crucial information to the police, identifying the location of the shooting as the Spanish Jon's Apartments on West 65th Street.
His passing marked the beginning of a double homicide investigation.
Responding to the information provided by Washington, officers from the Southwest Division of the Little Rock Police Department proceeded to the apartment complex. Upon their arrival at the specified apartment, they found the door unlocked but barricaded from the inside with a chair. After forcing their way in, they discovered the body of 39-year-old Porcha Gibson just inside the doorway. She had also sustained a fatal gunshot wound. A protective sweep of the residence revealed no other individuals inside.
Homicide detectives were called to the scene, and a search warrant was obtained to process the apartment for any evidence. The vehicle that transported Washington to the hospital was also impounded for further examination by the Crime Scene Search Unit. Investigators began working with the apartment management to secure any available surveillance footage that might shed light on the events leading to the deaths of Washington and Gibson. The bodies of both victims were sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for autopsies to be performed.
In the preliminary stages of their investigation, authorities have considered the possibility that the shooting may have been the result of a domestic incident. However, as of the latest available information, the investigation into the double homicide of Jarvis Washington and Porcha Gibson remains ongoing. No arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the case.
