On a Sunday evening in Batesville, Arkansas, 34-year-old Andrew Kyle Milton was shot multiple times outside of a local convenience store. The incident, which occurred on July 12, 2020, ultimately claimed his life. Before succumbing to his injuries, Milton was able to identify his assailant to the police officers who had arrived at the scene. He named Casey Evans as the man who shot him and stated that Evans had fled in a red Ford F-150.
Following the information provided by Milton, law
enforcement located the vehicle. Inside the truck bed, they discovered Robert Casey Evans, a 46-year-old from Pleasant Plains, who had sustained a gunshot wound to his shoulder. Authorities believe Milton fired a shot at Evans as he was attempting to flee. Evans was taken into custody after receiving medical treatment for his injury.
During the investigation, Evans admitted to shooting Milton. He claimed that he had gotten into Milton's vehicle to discuss 'drugs and money,' which led to an argument. Evans alleged that after he exited the vehicle, he saw Milton pointing a gun at him, which prompted him to pull out his own revolver and fire multiple times. After the shooting, Evans was driven from the scene by Ian Hunter Doyle. An arrest warrant was later issued for Doyle, a 32-year-old from Newport, on a charge of hindering apprehension or prosecution. Authorities reported that Doyle was evasive during questioning and was a habitual offender.
