On September 27, 2016, 28-year-old Deranta Ponder was shot in the parking lot of the Fontana Shopping Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, outside of Magoo's Pool Hall. He sustained a gunshot wound to the groin, which hit his femoral artery. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Ponder died two days later from the injuries.
