On September 14, 2020, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Fort Smith police responded to a call on the 4300 block of North 32nd Street. Upon arrival, they discovered 39-year-old Daniel Alexander Ahumada deceased from an apparent gunshot wound.
Following interviews with witnesses, authorities identified 37-year-old Christopher Lee Stowell as a suspect in the case. Stowell was located and arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service Task Force at a residence in Fort Smith.
He was taken into custody without incident and was found in possession of a. 380 caliber handgun at the time of his arrest.
Stowell was charged with second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by certain persons.
Two other individuals, Louis Jamison, 29, and Samantha Navrat, 26, were reportedly present during the altercation but fled the scene. Authorities sought to locate and interview them as part of the investigation.
