In the quiet area of Lone Rock, Arkansas, a call to 9-1-1 on the afternoon of Monday, October 5, 2020, set in motion a murder investigation. The caller, 17-year-old Baxter Morrell Stowers of Salesville, reported that he had just shot and killed another man. When personnel from the Baxter County Sheriff's Office arrived at the residence at 813 CR 111, they found the body of 41-year-old Jeremy Wayne Alman, also of Salesville.

Rock, was a father who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and sports. He was discovered at the scene, and the handgun used in the shooting was also recovered and taken into evidence. Stowers was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Baxter County Sheriff's Office for questioning. He refused to provide a statement or answer any questions regarding the incident.
Following a consultation with the Prosecuting Attorney, Baxter Morrell Stowers was charged as an adult with Murder in the First Degree. He was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center and held on a $200,000 bond. The Baxter County Coroner's Office took possession of Alman's body, which was sent to the Arkansas State Medical Examiner's Office in Little Rock for an autopsy.
