In the small city of West Helena, Arkansas, a tragic and violent event cut short the life of Akilia Smith, a Black/African American female. On March 4, 2021, the community was shaken by the news of her death, a devastating outcome of domestic violence. The incident unfolded at her residence where her boyfriend forcibly gained entry. In a brutal act, he shot Akilia, inflicting fatal injuries that she would not survive. She succumbed to her wounds at the scene, her life abruptly ended.
