On the evening of September 26, 2021, an argument at a Sonic Drive-In on Block Street in Marion, Arkansas, escalated into a fatal shooting that claimed the life of 18-year-old Kyjuan Hardaway, a Black male. The confrontation, which began as a verbal exchange, quickly turned deadly when an unidentified individual opened fire, striking Hardaway.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene shortly after 10 p.m. and transported Hardaway to a nearby hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he was later pronounced dead. The incident prompted an immediate investigation by the Marion Police Department as they worked to piece together the events that led to the shooting and to identify the person responsible.
In the days following the shooting, authorities announced that they had identified a suspect in connection with Hardaway's death and were in the process of obtaining arrest warrants. However, there have been no subsequent public announcements regarding an arrest in the case. The investigation into the death of Kyjuan Hardaway remains ongoing as law enforcement continues to seek leads to bring closure to his family.
