In the early morning hours of December 5, 2021, the body of 19-year-old Trevaughn Walker, a Black male, was discovered by a Fordyce police officer. Walker was found lying in the street near the intersection of South Charlotte and Brown streets in Fordyce, Arkansas. He had sustained what would prove to be fatal gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene around 12:30 a.m.
Following the discovery, the Fordyce Police Department requested the assistance of the Arkansas State Police
to take the lead in the homicide investigation. Special agents with the department's Criminal Investigation Division arrived and worked through the night to process the crime scene. Their initial steps included documenting the area, gathering evidence, and conducting preliminary interviews with individuals who might have information about the shooting. Walker's body was transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory to determine the precise cause and manner of his death.
As of the initial reports following the incident, no arrests had been made in connection with Trevaughn Walker's death. The investigation was described as ongoing, with law enforcement working to develop leads and identify any potential suspects.
